While the Beaver's away the groundhogs will play

Has he gone yet?
Ok, so this week's hare is going to make another attempt at stealing Beaver's run site etc, which last time resulted in him being struck down with some awful disease possibly as a result of Beaver employing an Indonesian witch doctor to put a hex on him. But Beaver's in Bangkok this weekend and there are no witch doctors up there, are there? (Don't answer that!) So all being well, the details of this week's SH3 run are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1871, Saturday, April 29, 2017, 4:30 p.m.
Hares: Egghead and Harram
Misdirections: Take the Old Hatyai Road for 4.7 km and turn left. Proceed about 10.3 km (i.e. 2.3 km past Wat Khao Kloi) and turn left again. Bear right after 150m and carry on about 2km to the runsite, From Hatyai take Poonakan Rd. from it's junction with Kanjanawanich road for 11 km to Wat Khao Kloi then turn right and go 2.3k, then turn left etc. Coordinates are: 7°0'50.00"N 100°36'18.44"E.

Sunday's (30th April 2017) HH3 run site is  just past Rong Rien Tungnai off of Poonakan Road: From Wat Keow Kloy go about 6k and look for the sign on the right and turn into the road. Follow the road past RR Tungnai for about 500m then at a sharp right hand turn in the road, take the track straight ahead or slightly left through the rubber for a further 300m or so to the run site at the top of the building site. From Hatyai the turning is 5k from the junction with Kanjanawanit Rd. and is on the left. The hare is Robocop.

Sound familiar? Well it should do because it's the same as last week, when Robocop set, let's be charitable, an abomination; a blot on the good name of hashing; a load of old codswallop. So in the spirit of Groundhog Day, this week he gets the chance to go back and do it all again and get it right this time! And just as an added attraction, there will be a camp-out after the run for those who don't have to work the following day or get up to get their kids off to the first day of the new school year. So if yer into camping then bring yer tent!

Finally, this Friday (28th April) is quiz night at the Office Bar and a chastened SH3 team who slumped to third place last month, will be attempting to come back from the brain-dead. The quiz master is big Alex and the quiz kicks off at 8:00 p.m.

  1. It's amazing I keep coming back after all the abuse I suffer when I'm away . . . celebratory t-shirts, elaborate graphics (a parachuting beaver?!), people dragging their decrepit dog out to beat my haring record etc. The only time anybody misses me is quiz night and then I get blamed when you lose!

  2. Ah, there there! Nice Beaver. Just make sure you're back for May as you'll probably be setting the quiz (so it will definitely be your fault if we lose!)

  3. HH3's (30th April) runsite has now been changed and the camp out has been cancelled. The run will now be from down near Kuan Jong, 3.5k down the Ban Nai Lai turn off from Poonakan (7.5k from Wat Keow Kloy, 3.5k from the Kanchanawanit/Poonakan traffic lights). The hare is still Robocop, but he promises to be gentle!

  4. Good luck, girls, though I hear Dave is also in Blighty so you should be alright.

    1. A stolen runsite, a sad old dog being dragged around just for a hare credit (no, not Egghead!), you in the UK and me in Bangkok, well, it doesn't sound too promising. Which means they'll soon be praising it as Run of the Year!

    2. I think the Screw is probably referring to last night's quiz night. No, Eightball had returned and the evil teachers were at full strength and the third team were also on form, so the SH3 team were really up against it with both Beaver and Yardo AWOL. But against the odds thanks largely to an inspired performance by Perky, we were victorious and have restored the intellectual integrity of the hash. But we felt compelled to offer to set next month's quiz to give the other teams a chance so Beaver was duly volunteered and accepted!

    3. I'll be in Japan next month but can set the one at the end of June.

      And congratulations!

    4. Ok, I thought you might be away. I'll do it next month then and I'll let Eric know you can do June.
