Run 1824

A relatively straight forward run, you start at the runsite, run to the beerstop and run back to the runsite, what could be easier. Probably just selecting which run you wanted to do, long , medium or short.
The long run overall length was 10.1kms, but that included the 9 checks, 9 false trails, and 3 check-backs.  The medium & long runs were only able to achieve a measly maximum height of 123m. The stats for the various runs were:
Short Run -  Length: 3.9kms,  Total Ascent: 112m  Max Height: 46m  (in yellow)
Medium Run -  Length: 6.6kms,  Total Ascent: 216m  Max Height: 123m  (in green)
Long Run -  Length: 10.1kms,  Ascent: 335m  Max Height: 123m   (combined green & red)

Bespoke running

Yardo's runs these days are like hash T shirts, they come in small, medium, large or XL. This week's batch are described thus by the hare:

"Once again there is a selection of runs to suit different tastes;  a long run of about 8.5k, a medium run of about 5.5k, and a short run of 3.5k, or a slightly longer run of about 4.0k."
Official details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1824, Saturday May 28th 2016, 4:30 p.m.
Hare: Yardstick
Misdirections: From Songkhla; take the Old Hatyai Road for 4.7k past the Ko Yo intersection, turn left and go 10.6k (i.e. 2.9k past Wat Khao Kloi and about 350m before Wat Noen Phichit). Turn left at the hash sign and go 3.1k to the runsite (approx 700m beyond the end of the bitumen).
From Hatyai; take Poonakan Road and turn right at Wat Khao Kloi. At 2.9k from Wat Khao Kloi turn left and go 3.1k to the runsite).

No gnus yet about the HH3 run on Sunday but it will no doubt be announced on Saturday. There is however news of  quiz night at the Office Bar on Friday 27th May when French Eric will be the quiz master and the shattered remnants of the SH3 team will be hoping to scrape in to 2nd place again! Come along and help the blind school in whose aid the event is being held.

What kind of fun?

In case you didn't get this by e mail, here is a map to the run site on Saturday.
Details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1823, Saturday May 21, 2016
Hare: Sex Sprinter
Misdirections: (as above) However if the turn for the run site is between the road to Khao Long and the Sai Khao resort then the distance from the big tree is about 1.5 k. Alternatively, if the turning is 3k beyond the big tree then it is well past the Sai Khao resort... just saying!

The hare is promisng fun on the run with prizes to boot.

HH3 on Sunday?

How low can you get?

With the dry season extending well beyond normal, the countryside to the East of the old Yala road has yielded not one but two runs this year. 1822 started in the quarry, headed out towards the sea and hit 3m just after the first 360, before slowly ascending back to the 24m it started at. Mr Garmin said we climbed 63m but I'm not sure that he was accurate as the run seemed to be dead flat for most of the 6.4k (7.9k including all the Fs and X's). Meanwhile the short run hit the high spots with a vertigo-inducing 30m on their 2.8k trip.  Lots of beer, good food and vibes followed the runs.
Pray for rain or we could be back around these parts again soon!!

Smiling happy people

Just ahead of the coming weekend's details, here are a couple of groupies from the beer stop on last week's run: above, the short run including three, yes three new runners as well as born-again hasher Mark showing his new-found enthusiasm for running. He went on the next day to bigger and better things, completing the whole of the 8.4k long run shown below; and middle, the long run including a great view of Hippo (ok, Ma Mick)'s bum. So now it's on on to 1822... now where did I put those misdirections?

1822 misdirections

... ah, here they are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1822, Saturday May 14th 2016, 4:30 p.m
Hares: Eightball and Egghead
Misdirections: From the Kao Seng intersection take the old Yala road for 8.2k and turn left for 1.7k, then turn right for 400 meters then right for about 150 meters on a dirt track to the run site  - just keep going until you hit it!
Sunday's HH3 hare seems likely to be Robocop but there are no details yet. They will follow or more likely be announced at Saturday's SH3 run.

A short map from the hare

Short and sweet this week (the directions, not necessarily the run!)
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1821, Saturday May 7, 2016, 4;30 p.m.
Hare: Sex Sprinter
Misdirections: From the Ko Yo intersection take the new Hatyai road for 8k and turn left to the run site when you see the hash sign .

Sunday's directions are equally straight-forward: go to Egg Towers; be there by about 4:15 p.m. The Hares are Kai Jeow, Full Moon and the Borogam kids contingent

NB1: If you don't know where Egg Towers is, there is a map here or from the Ko Yo intersection take the Old Hatyai road for 4k and turn left for 5.2k (don't go straight ahead at 4k but follow the road as it bends round to the right) and turn right through the temple arch at Wat Borogam, then follow the road for 200m and turn right, keeping the temple wall on your left for about 300m. Turn left at the T junction and then after less than 100m turn right to the car parking area.
NB2; Only a Yolk, a.k.a.Moo Sahb is still not mobile, so there will be a limit to her culinary abilities. Therefore this should be treated as a normal run: all contributions of food gratefully accepted and beer will be on sale as usual from the beer truck.

Run 1820

The ultra and short run started from the runsite shown by the light blue line to the beerstop (B01) The ultra long runners then ran the long run anticlockwise around the green line, together with the three long runners consisting of Egghead, All Black & BarBie. All the short runners and long runners, apart from a Beaver and a few of the youngest hashers completed the run along the dark blue line back to the runsite. For anyone interested in where they ran yesterday and how far and wide they ranged here are the stats for the different runs.
Short Run - Length: 3.1kms, Ascent: 130m, Max Height : 152m
Medium Run - Length: 5.5kms, Ascent: 170m, Max Height: 152m
Long Run - Length: 7.8kms, Ascent: 229m, Max Height: 107m
Very Long Run - Length: 10.1kms, Ascent: 269m, Max Height: 107m
Ultra Long Run -Length: 13.3kms, Ascent: 399m, Max Height: 152m
A pretty impressive effort by all the people attending the run on Saturday, the only person remaining at the runsite during the run was Bung, the beer truck driver.
