Three runs for the price of....

...three. Well what do you expect,  a discount? But there will indeed be three runs this weekend with the full moon run following Saturday's SH3 run and there will be a camp out to follow for those who don't fancy the drive home afterwards. Details of Saturday's runs are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1918, Saturday March 31st, 4:30 p.m.
And
Hatyai Full Moon Hash House Harriers' run #141, which will follow the SH3 run shortly after the end of the circle at around 6:30 p.m.
Hares: Sex Sprinter and Buk Toy
Misdirections: from The Ko Yo intersection take the old Hatyai road for 4.7k and turn left for 8k then right at Wat Keow Kloy into Poonakan for  about 5.8k and turn right. Follow the road to the right at a T junction after 300m, then swing left past Rong Rien Tungnai for a total of 700m. Then leave the road into the rubber on the track to the left and follow it to the run site at 7.011608° 100.532303°.

If you intend to camp then a tent is advisable and there are plenty of flat areas on which to pitch it. There will be some sponsored beer at the full moon run but if you're not among the sponsors than how about buying from the SH3 beer truck before it leaves as there will be no beer sales for full moon hash after that time. There will be food after the full moon run but again that's up to everybody to bring, so don't come empty handed if you are staying around. It doesn't need to be much but every little bit helps.

Sunday's HH3 will be set by Inchdick and Buck and will be from a run site close to that used by Yardo and the GM a few weeks back for the last full moon run and for SH3: From Songkhla, take the Old Hatyai Road for 4.7km past the Ko Yor intersection, turn left and go 10.6km (i.e. 2.8km past Wat Khao Kloi and about 350m before Wat Noen Phichit). Turn left at the hash sign and staying right go 3.1km to the runsite (700m beyond the end of the bitumen).

Get together

There's a get-together happening tonight (Wednesday) at Buk Toy's yard (Goldstar, Old Hatyai road about 12k on the right - do a U turn at the Ko Mi traffic lights and come back past the big black Buddha for 500m and it will be on your left). Ostensibly it's to discuss HH3/SH3 people acting as marshals at the Songkhla Triathlon on April 8th, but the meta-reason is drinking beer and hanging out with yer mates. The Egg family will be bringing a case of Leo and there will be some food as well. Anytime after 6:00 p.m.

What the well-dressed hasher will be wearing this Saturday

It's the hot season and Saturday's run will take full advantage of the dry conditions by running out on the south side of Songkhla lake for the first time in at least five years,

In honor of the occasion, there will be a prize for the best dressed desert rat and a few other surprises, notably the first visit of this year from Smeggers who is down from KK for the weekend.
Details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1917, Saturday March 24th, 2018, 4:30 p.m.
Hares: Buck 'n' Wi Wi.
Misdirections:  From the Koh Yor intersection drive 4 km on the new Hatyai Road, do a U turn and enter the Omsupkru Village directly opposite the large PTT Station.  Head towards the lake for about 850m then turn left on Soi 12 and take the 4th turn to the right, then another right turn and park on the left side of Soi 13 facing East near the big stainless-steel gates at 7.129044° 100.539967°. If you are coming from Hatyai, the turning off of the NHR is on the left - look out for the PTT station on the other side of the road. Last word, for dog owners, it might be as well to leave your canines at home this week as they will have to stay in/on your truck once the run is finished or risk being ripped apart by the local soi dogs!

Sunday's HH3 run features another kind of desert rat as Robocop sets the run out at Ban Nai Lai - from  Wat Keow Kloy head down Poonakan Rd for about 7.5k and turn left then follow the bendy road for about 1.5k and turn left at the hash sign then follow the road/track to the run site. Map below.

Ten-beers' worth!

Based on the hare's stats (above) Sunday's HH3 run was a ten-beer run, so it wasn't surprising that some of the more seasoned runners probably got out of bed on Monday morning wondering what had hit them - and that was just the run! But a classic Sex Sprinter lay and a great beer stop, just at the point that some of us were questioning whether life still had any meaning. After all that climbing we probably need a nice flat run this weekend  - Wi Wi? Buck? Can you oblige?

1916: Pussy perfect

Generally agreed to be a pretty good run by all who completed it despite the meaningless loop towards the end which two recces had failed to conquer, but which Egghead, desperately searching for his lost Gik, managed to short cut, getting iced later for his troubles. Gik meanwhile was off consorting with Only a Yolk's not short-cutting group who managed to completely avoid most of the paper. The short run meanwhile got split up with All Black being first home and the rest following on after the return of all the long runners bar Sex Sprinter who took a short cut too far and was almost last home. Actually last in were Chao Ngor and Kanya plus baby who had decided to head up to the top of the hill rather than face all that flat stuff. For those who didn't head up the hill (184m) the high spot (109m) was just after 360 6 with the total ascent being about 150m. All Black measured the short run at 4.4m and Mrs. Garmin thought the long run was about 7k without the checks. Buck returned and will set next week's run with Wi Wi, and Smeghead is rumored to be joining us. Sex Sprinter will set the last run of the month with a camp-out to follow so the hareline looks ok for the time being. But we have a blank sheet staring at us for April and volunteers should contact Yardstick who is threatening to nominate hares if we don't get any!

Pink is for pussies

It's a pussy run on Saturday, in celebration of Superpig's birthday and since our GM has requested that we should be themed this week, let's all try to wear something pink as a sign of our solidarity with our ladies who will be doing battle with the elements on Saturday morning to bring you a run to remember.
Details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1916, Saturday March 17, 2017, 4:30 p.m.
Hares: Super Pig, Only a Yolk, Squealer
Misdirections: From the Kao Seng intersection take the old Yala road for 11.8k and turn right (about 1k past the Ang Thong intersection) on the road heading for Wat Kao Lam. Follow the road for 4k across two crossroads and on through the village then turn right on the road leading towards Kao Long for 1k to the runsite on the right at 7.050195° N 100.613577° E. From Hatyai, get to Tha Kham and head East toward Ban Sai Kao for about 5k, then turn left into the Kao Long turning and follow the road for about 600m, Bear left at the Y intersection for 1k to the run site on the right.
Details of HH3's run on Sunday are currently unknown but will no doubt appear within half an hour of this post so will be added later.
Post script.
It did! Map below.
As used not so long ago by Gan Yao! From the Tha Kham crossroads go south for 2k to Wat Keow Kloy then go about 100m and turn left at the hash sign then follow the road and track for about 1k to the run site on the right at the T junction

Second best

Run 1915 teetered on the brink of being our biggest turn-out of the year, but then at the last minute fell away and we still await the breaking of the 30-barrier. But with a couple of new runners and a healthy short run pack it felt crowded even if the long run was a bit sparse. The run  however, was not difficult and the whole hill section was bereft of 360s, with the result that by the final check, all 5 hounds were together and the sweeping hare was able to short cut to the beer stop with a clear conscience. There, the beer truck guardians' run awaited them with 4 people having opted to join 2 of the hares on the ride out with several then setting out to finish the run on foot with the long run pack.

For the record the long run was 6.7k stretching to 8.4k with all the checks. The maximum height reached by whoever found the 6th F was 198m and the total ascent was about 260m. The short run in contrast was flat, flat, flat never getting above 70m, and discounting the only F on the run was about 3.7k. Back at the run site there was pumpkin soup and chocolate cake to sustain the runners - just right for those cold winter evenings, and the beer truck was ritually emptied with the last 5 cans being added to the surfeit which will have to be drunk at today's HH3 run. People began to drift away before the circle could be called, partly because of a clash with some minor football match in the UK - we really are going to have to protest to the Premier League about their scheduling of games in our drinking time! Eightball was among the early departees, much to the chagrin of Buddy who resolutely refused to get into the car and had to be chained and dragged protesting into the back seat.

It's a family affair!

This week's SH3 run is a family affair with Egghead and Only a Yolk making a rare  joint appearance as hares. Other members of the Egg family may join the team if they can be persuaded to come down from the trees in time.

Details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1915, Saturday March 10, 2018, 4:30 p.m.
Hares: Egghead and Only a Yolk
Misdirections: From the Kao Seng intersection take the old Yala road for 16k and turn right at Wat Khun Thong for 3.5k then turn left just after the big tree. After 150m go straight ahead (i.e. don't follow the road round to the right towards the village) for another 700m to the run site on the grass football pitch at  7.033055°N 100.624710°E. Park considerately just in case there is a match planned!
From Hatyai, get to the Tha Kham intersection and head East for about 6.5 k then turn right just before the big tree etc.

Sunday's HH3 run is another from Budokan's auxiliary residence in Poonakan Soi 10 (6.998133°N 100.515269°E). and is being advertised as being a special run. From Songkhla get to Wat Keow Kloy and turn right down Poonakan for about 8k and turn left at the Hash sign. From Hatyai, the turning is 3k up from the junction with Kanchnavanit Rd. and the turning is on the right. Map below which includes visual clues as to the identity of the hares!

RIP Fufu

We lost Fufu yesterday, at the hash as she probably would have wanted it. (Don't all hashers?) She was a little dog but apparently someone forgot to tell her. And probably the best pound-for-pound runner Songkhla and Hatyai Hashes ever had. On-on Fufu!

Rebirth & Rehash of the Full Moon Run

In trying to limit the overuse of future run locations and in keeping with the new green culture, the hares decided to reduce, reuse & recycle the 1914 runsite, for use of the FMH3 full moon run. This may have been a mistake on the hares part as more time was spent picking up, relaying and generally redistributing shreddy & squares, then it almost certainly would have been to set a new run in a completely different area. However to the relief of the hares, nobody appeared to have been misled onto old trails and both runs were more or less run as designed.
The attached map shows the long run for the Full Moon in magenta, with the short run cutout shown in yellow. This was also the short run on the Saturday, with reconstituted false trails & checks. The long run for the Saturday SH3 run is shown in green with the additional checks & false trails.
The short run on both days was around 4.0kms with an elevation change of about 100m. The long run for the Full Moon was 6.9km in length and 183m in elevation change, while the SH3 long run was 10.7kms in length, including false trails & checkbacks, with a total ascent of 269m.

HH3 tomorrow: the map

Give or take a preposition or two and the odd article and dispensing with any pedantic considerations about where head nouns are positioned in relation to their qualifiers or indeed where turnings are positioned in relation to traffic lights,  here is the low down on tomorrow's HH3 run site for the visually creative.

Reborn!

HFMH3 was well and truly resuscitated last night with a turn out in the low thirties and a great run set by Inchdick and Sex Teacher which pretty much everybody did either in its short or long form.
This month is another blue moon month so let's do it all again on the 29th and more to the point let's do it all again on Saturday, when the same hares and run site will be gracing SH3's run, details of which below:

Songkhla Hash House Harriers, run #1914, Saturday March 3, 2018; 4:30 p.m.
Hares: Yardstick and All Black
Misdirections: From Songkhla, take the Old Hatyai Road for 4.7km past the Ko Yor intersection, turn left and go 10.6km (i.e. 2.8km past Wat Khao Kloi and about 350m before Wat Noen Phichit). Turn left at the hash sign and staying right go 2.4km to the end of the bitumen, then turn right for 200m along the dirt road to the runsite
at 6.998842° N 100.604472° E or thereabouts. From Hatyai, get to Tha Kham and go south for 4.8km then turn left at the hash sign etc.

Sunday's HH3 run is being set by Sex Printer from the big sala behind the CP factory. From the Ko Yo intersection take the old Hatyai road for 6.6k and do a U turn. Come back 100m and turn left for 1k (7.086453° N 100.545255° E). From Hatyai the turning is about 3.7k past the Nam Noi traffic lights.
