A run up the ravine

The GPS track tells the story: today's HH3 run was up one side of the ravine, the hard way, and then back down the easy way, i.e. the main trail. At the far end were some nice new rubber terraces that I hope provided some proper running, and some good views too. But this is being written at 2 pm. so who knows what will happen?

Length was just a hair short of 7km. Total ascent, a generous 555m. The highest point, at the false trail at the top of this map, was 248m. It took exactly three hours to set and, crossing my fingers here, say about 1:20 to run?

  1. My best guess on what screwed things up was that Jim overran that false trail halfway up the right side of the map, then hit the paper above that little loop and turned right rather than left. He would have then hit the check from the wrong direction.

Ah well, despite the problems with that bit, Jim said he came in in 1:24, and there were a couple over-achievers ahead of him so my guess was about right. Now if only I'd remembered to bring a camera up to the top with me . . . .

    1. Correct! Sex Printer was at least 100m up the gully when he found paper and no one even bothered to look right off of the F. That's what you get for including gratuitous loops! But without that we would have been home in not much more than an hour
