Kii Leum's tenuous grip on reality was given a boost tonight by the discovery that there is a grain of truth in the story of the long-lived chicken heart. But the devil is in the detail as what was kept alive was "a bit of the heart of a living chicken", i.e. a tissue culture, and rather than being irrigated with sea water, it was kept alive be being fed a " special diet of the substances forming living bodies".
