The long run overall length was 8.6kms,
which included the 7 checks, 6 false trails, and one check-back. The total ascent was 311m, reaching a maximum
height of 199m, after a rather nasty steep & muddy climb of 140m. The front runners returned to the runsite in about 90mins, including about 10mins spent at the beer stop after an easy jog down the "mountain" along a construction track. Even though Buk Toy was only a few minutes behind the long runners, he returned with assistance of his hand torch in the rapidly fading light. The short
run was a very short 2.7kms, with a total ascent of just 76m, but it did
involve getting their feet wet at the “river” crossing.

A tragically brilliant run - tragic as in not many people turned up to experience it, brilliant as only Yardo at his best (ably supported by Buck) can be.
ReplyDeleteSomehow we need to get the message out that:
1. you don't melt if you get rained on, nor do you develop nasty diseases.
2. once you are in your car/on your bike an extra 2k up the road doesn't take very long nor consume very much gas,
3. It is actually more interesting to go to new places and run where we are not intimately acquainted with every square inch of the ground because we run there every other week!
