This week's SH3 run is from Napong where we have run on the odd occasion over the years so you would not expect much by way of something new. But, there you would be wrong as amazing things involving earth-moving equipment have been happening with the result that a whole section of Saturday's run will consist of trails that you will definitely not have run before since last year when we were in the area, they simply did not exist!
Details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1960, Saturday February 2, 2019: 4:00 p.m.
Hares: Egghead and Harram
Misdirections: from the Ko Yo intersection take the old Hatyai road for 4k and turn left for 6.5k (don't turn left at 4k, follow the road round to the right). Turn left and go 500m to the run site 100m up the track to the left at 7.071578° 100.611710°. Park on the road or considerately in the rubber next to the track. From Hatyai the traffic lights on the OHR are 13k from the Kor Hong traffic lights and the turning is on the right at the traffic lights just before the PTT station. Alternatively the run site can be approached via Tha Kham by going east for 5k and then turning left on the Kao Long road, then after 600m taking the right fork for about 2k through the village and turning left at the 2nd crossroads. The turning to the runsite is 1.9k on the right.
Sunday's Hatyai run has the ominous hareline of Robocop and Sex Au Au so prepare to be dismazed! The run site is in the putative housing development beyond Rong Rien Thungnai: From Wat Keow Kloy take Poonakan for about 5.8k and turn right. (From the PSU end of Poonakan, the turning is 5.2 k on the left). Follow the road to the right at a T junction after 300m, then swing left past Rong Rien Tungnai for a total of 700m. Then leave the road into the rubber on the track to the left and follow it to the run site at 7.011608° 100.532303°. Map below.

Welcome to Casa Not the Full Shilling!
Well to be more precise, Casa Worm and NtFS, but our almost elected hare-raiser is taking his duties seriously by stepping up to set an early-year run hosted at their palatial residence at the top end of Poonakan.
Details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers run #1959, Saturday January 26, 2019, 4:00 p.m.
Hares: Not the Full Shilling and Worm.
Misdirections: From the Ko Yo intersection take the old Hatyai road for 4.7k and turn left for 8k then right at the traffic lights at Wat Keow Kloy into Poonakan for 1.3k and turn right into the driveway through the big metal gates at 7.023149° 100.568478°. Park considerately! From Hatyai the run site is 9.7k up from the Kanchanawit-Poonakan junction and is on the left.
Sunday's HH3 run is a reprise from last week's quintet, Toy Boy, Sex Printer, Safe-T-Cut, IT-UT and 48, this time from the community center behind the CP factory on the old Hatyai road (6.6k from the Ko Yo Intersection - do a U turn and come back 100m then turn left and go 1k to the runsite at 7.086344° 100.545237°. From Hatyai the turning is 3.3k beyond the traffic lights at Nam Noi on the left.
Finally or chronologically first, there is a quiz night at Oscars Bar in Soi Sisuda on Friday night (25th January) starting at 8:00 p.m. when Koko will be the quizmaster and the tattered remnants of the Hash team will hope that there aren't too many questions about Star Wars, or is it Star Trek - we can never tell the difference! Anyway come along and join the debacle or make your own team and take on the intellectual cream of Songkhla. Indian snacks are promised along with the usual cardboard crisps and there will be plenty of reasonably priced Leo in big bottles for those on a budget as well as an interesting selection of premium beers if Little Tool hasn't drunk them all first!

Relive 1958!
Ah, if only I could!
Little Tool has kindly provided us with this image of Last Saturday's highly enjoyable run set by our two longest serving but still active members, Wi Wi and Buck, which marginally failed to reach 300m from a start at less than 30m so involved a fairly hefty climb for a 6.5k run. But the downhill punctuated by the beer stop was 'ex-hill-erating' as long as you could keep on your feet! If you want to see the moving version of the run it is here.
Sunday's HH3 run was equally enjoyable and a little longer at something approaching 8.4k if Lot Rakaa's phone is to be believed - it certainly felt long even without the spurious false trail at the beer stop that constituted the difference between the medium and long runs. The short run meanwhile stayed on the flat side of the road but was roundly praised by all who went on it - even SH3's two ailing long runners, Yardstick and Kii Leum, both of whom are suspected of having been attacked by chickens... or something like that! Get well soon guys, there's to be no slacking at SH3 this weekend!

Wanna Buck?
Saturday's SH3 run details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1958, Saturday January 19, 2019
Hares Buck and Wi Wi.
Misdirections: From the Kao Seng intersection take the old Yala road for 4.4k and turn right (immediately after the army base) and go 1.2k, bearing left before the back gate to the Gor Sor Nor, to the run site at approx. 7.134189° 100.619270°.
From Hatyai get to the old Yala road (see last week's directions for the shortest route from Tha Kham) and head north towards Songkhla. The turning is on the left about 3.6k beyond the turning for last week's run site. Alternatively by taking the old Hatyai road through the Ko Yo intersection for 3k on Kanjanawanit road and turning right, you can access the new road to the zoo from behind Wat Keow Geow and by going straight past the entrance to the zoo and heading for the old Yala road, then turning right at the traffic lights at the junction with the old Yala road, the turn to the run site is 1.4k on the right.
Sunday's HH3 run is being set by Sex Sprinter, Safe-T-Cut and 48 from the run site at 7.029126° 100.545416° which is on the Prutoh Tung Ngai road. From Songkhla take the old Hatyai road to the Nam Noi traffic lights and turn left for 3.6k then turn right at Wat Prutoh for 1.4k to the run site on the left. If you are coming from Poonakan, turn onto the Prutoh Tung Ngai road at Wat Tung Ngai (from Wat Keow Kloy, 5k on the right; from the Kanjanawanit junction, 6k on the left) and follow the road for 2.8k to the run site on the right.

All change!
New improved map including easy route from Hatyai! |
Details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1957, Saturday, January 12, 2019, 4:00 p.m.
Hares Sex Sprinter, Toy Boy and Budgie Smuggler.
Misdirections: From the Kao Seng intersection take the Old Yala road for 8.1k and do a U turn. Come back past Ban Dan School and turn left then follow the road until you see signs of a run site. The turning off the old Yala road is at: 7.106930° 100.632766° and if the run site is at the end of the road near the hill then it will be about a 2.5k drive from there at: 7.105680° 100.611314°.
If you are coming from Hatyai then you need to get to the old Yala road and if you want to avoid the new Yala road onto which you cannot now turn right at the Ko Yo intersection, then the easy way is to head to Tha Kham and go East then after 4.5k turn left on the road to Kao Long for 4.2k (bear right away from Kao Long after 600m then pass through three villages, two crossroads, and finally pass Wat Kao Lam on the left). At the OYR turn left for about 4k and the turning past Ban Dan school will be on your left. Finally don't forget that Saturday is CHILDRENS' DAY so the roads will be busier than normal so set off in good time.
Sunday's HH3 run features the same run site and the same hare that brought you the SH3 'Songkhla swap 'em' run two weeks ago although the run itself will be completely different. Sex Printer has provided a beautiful map (below) which helpfully omits all the carefully worked out alternative routes, so if you would like to refer to the original it is here. The signed route will be from the 4.7k turning off the old Hatyai road on the road to Tha Kham: turn left after 4.2k for 1.7k then turn right for 500m to the run site by the lake at 7.053766° N100.583731°E (or from Tha Kham go north for 2k then turn right for 1.7k etc.). But there is a section of road on the 1.7k bit where the pot holes are a bit deep so there are alternative routes available if you prefer.

What's his name again?
For our first run of 2019 we have a solo effort from Lot Rakaa (or Rot Lakaa) with only a little help from In-U-Endo who wishes to remain nameless.
Details are:
Songkhla Hash House Harriers' run #1956, January 5, 2019, 4:00 p.m.
Hare: Rot Rakaa (or is it Lot Lakah?)
Misdirections: From The Ko Yo intersection take the old Hatyai road for 4.7 k and turn left for 8k then turn right at Wat Khao Kloy onto Poonakan Rd. for 1.2k and turn right. Go about 200m to the run site at 7.024493, 100.569858.
Sunday's (January, 6) HH3 run will be set by Robocop from the football field at Tung Ngai as per the map below. Meanwhile Friday (January 4) evening will see the reappearance of Softy and Temp, aka Eric and Duean, who assuming that Songkhla was not blown away over night, will be making a brief but welcome reappearance amongst us. Meet for dinner at the Parlang 7/7:30 'ish followed by drinkies at Oscars and all points North.
