Good run? It was.....interesting.

Proving that the best laid plans don't necessarily lead to the best laid runs, here, by virtue of an incomplete GPS track, the readings from the entrails of this afternoon's chicken curry and some inspired guesswork, is yesterday's run, which despite some confusion about the shape and nature of the paper, the number and location of the checks and a couple of gratuitous loops induced by GPS-unfriendly atmospheric conditions, didn't turn out too badly in the end.
The red bit is what the hares laid, the yellow bit is the additional walk that all but two of the hounds indulged in as a result of some recalcitrance on the part of Bung who declined to drive the beer truck up the hill with virtually the whole pack on board. Best estimates put the total outing at just under 8k. A great party followed including a magnificent circle at which Kai, who doesn't have all that much to do with Eggs, was named Giraffe Whisperer, possibly as a result of Knackerwurst's astute observation of his North African origins. The SH3 award for services above and beyond the call of dooty goes to Bi-Anal who apart from wearing an apron on his head ('cos it was too small to go round his generous girth) all evening put on a faultless performance on the twin barbecues turning out enough cremated animal bits and delicately toasted corn and potatoes to soak up the beer, which as Beaver hints below RAN OUT WHILE THERE WERE STILL PEOPLE THERE TO DRINK IT!
But it is to Roadrunner to whom the biggest thanks go, for a memorable evening - well what I can remember of it was memorable anyway. Can we do it all again on November 6th?
On! On!

Roadrunner's birthday

So would you buy a used car from either of these rather dodgy gentlemen?

Anyhow . . . it's been a while, but that's how you do a party. Good turnout, good run, epic amounts of food, huge amounts of beer. (But fortunately not quite endless, because we'd still be there.)

A preview of tonight's quiz

This was Barbie's answer. Can the Hash Team do any better?

Barbie vs. Egghead vs. Ken

OK, so he made yet another little slip up on the misdirections this week, this time to the Full Moon Hash. That's why they call them misdirections. We have yet no reason to believe that Egghead won't triumph on the Barbie IQ Test, the results of which will hopefully be announced at the run tomorrow. There is of course no need for him to match Barbie's own IQ. As long as he comes in above Ken, I say we reinstate his hash name for another year.

Meanwhile, however, a much more pressing test of intelligence: the newly revived Quiz Nite, tonight at the Office Bar at 7:30 pm., I mean 8:00, no maybe 8:30, whatever. The Hash team will be without Beavershot, who is serving as quizmaster, though as long as Stick Insect makes it back from his travels this week, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. We're going to try to get through it as quickly as possible, so as to make it to the Bonnie Bar's anniversary party just down the road. Be there!

Barbie and Ken share an intimate moment.

Roadrunner's birthday run

At Saturday's SH3 run we'll be celebrating Roadrunner's birthday. The run will be an A - B jobby and the the circle and On! On! will be at the B site which is Roadrunner's house, with a party after to which we're all invited. Transport from the B site to the A site will be provided and will leave the A site at 4:30 p.m. (so don't be late!)
Full misdirections are:
Songhla Hash House Harriers run # 1525, Saturday August 28th 2010; 4:30 p.m.
Hares: Roadrunner and Only a Yolk
Misdirections: From the Ko Yo Intersection take the road towards Ko Yo and turn right after 900 meters at the first set of traffic lights. Follow the road for about 1k and turn right at the hash sign, then go 100 meters or so down the road to the run site on the left(?).
Sunday's HH3 run (29th August 2010; 4:30 p.m.) is being set by Sex Printer and no doubt Toy Boy: From the Ko Yo intersection take the new Yala road for 8k and look for the hash sign probably on the left (but recent roadworks may necessitate a shift to the right, so stay awake!)

What's cooking at Beaver Manor

Mmm-mm, bugs for lunch! (You really need to click on this one to see it full size.) Hand Job is bringing this concoction to the hash today, so come hungry!

Gaseous Clay - a living legend - Updated again!

And you thought this week's hare was just that nice quiet guy who runs the gas shop? That's just his mild mannered alter- ego!

Run directions are:
SH3 run #1524, Saturday 21st August, 2010; 4:30 p.m.
Hare: Gaseous Clay
Misdirections: From the Ko Yo Intersection take the new Yala road for 4km to the run site on the left.

HH3 on Sunday (August 22nd: 4:15 or thereabouts) are running from the old market at Sri Sa Kiri (NEW Hatyai road 8k'ish, turn left and go 1k, run site on left) and the hare is Scud.

Lots of stuff coming up in the next couple of months:

☻Full Moon run next week: Wednesday 25th has been suggested but no hares have volunteered so if YOU want to set it you can choose the date (The full moon seems to fall between 24th and 25th so the date is open)

☻Next week (August 28th) is Roadrunner's birthday party and the run will be an A-B which will end at her/Bravefart's residence. Transport to the A site will be provided and this is probably a good run to come to if you are a collector of Hash memorabilia (and who isn't?)

☻The following week (September 4/5th) we will have 40 or more hashers from Penang H3 running with us and on Sunday there is a Sadao H3 run to which we are cordially invited where the Penang guys will also be running. HH3 have also been invited and with the usual contingent of other Malaysian runners this is probably going to be a run not to be missed.

☻Then on the 11th September, KL Full Moon are planning to avoid Hari Raya with us, probably arriving on Friday for some kind of a moonlight run and joining our regular run on Saturday with the remnants hopefully making it to HH3 on Sunday.

☻After that there is the outstation run on September 18th/19th September: book your place now at 250 Baht for the whole weekend including run, beer, food, kayaking and a free hangover thrown in.

☻Next up should be the HH3 500th run weekend currently planned for the 2nd/3rd October; although details have yet to be confirmed, a joint Saturday run seems likely with a party and sleepover somewhere and another free hangover to be dispelled by yet another run on Sunday

☻Finally, it’s our birthday again in October with the closest Saturday being the 23rd although the 30th also can lah!

Watch this space for more details.

Yesterday's run today: How the West was trimmed

Texas? Gone! California, disappeared into the Pacific (and good riddance! Bunch of pinko pooftie liberals!) The East coast? Nuked! What we're left with here is America; a pure land cleansed of all it's unecessary excess. The heartland. And what did it take? 6 pussies and 5 doggies loosely guided by an evil genius armed only with a GPS and Google Earth. Watch out Europe: you're next!
